Hong Kong staged its first ever Super Rugby match on 19 May 2018 at Mong Kok Stadium where Japan’s Hito-Communications Sunwolves won 26-23 over South Africa’s DHL Stormers in week 14 of the 19-week 2018 regular season.
Mr Robbie McRobbie, Chief Executive of the HKRU said: “With a global television audience for Super Rugby of nearly 50 million, we are delighted to be bringing another world-class rugby encounter to the city, especially one with such significant stakes, as both sides will be in mid-season form with much to play for.”
The Super Rugby match was another example of Hong Kong’s ability to host high-quality rugby, with a top-of-class event to match.
