JAPAN BEAT KAZAKHSTAN TO SECURE ASIA RUGBY WOMEN’S CHAMPIONSHIP 2024

Japan retained their Asia Rugby Women’s Championship title tonight after a 64-0 victory over Kazakhstan at King’s Park Sports Ground.

After winning both their matches in this year’s round-robin format, a talented Japanese Sakura side cannot be overtaken in the standings and lifted the trophy after the match. This season the Championship (which is the 13th edition of the tournament) has also served Japan as a direct qualifier for the Rugby World Cup 2025 in England – and earnt them the right to play in WXV2.



Tournament hosts Hong Kong China and Kazakhstan will play on Saturday in the final match of the championship. They will be battling it out for the runners-up spot, which provides the winner a chance to play in WXV3 and benefit from a further pathway to RWC 2025 qualification.
