MEN'S RUGBY WORLD CUP 2027

On Wednesday 3 December, Hong Kong China Men's XVs will learn which three teams they will face in their pool at the Men's Rugby World Cup 2027 - taking place in Australia from 1 October-13 November 2027.

The Pool Draw will be held in Sydney, Australia, at 8PM local time (5PM HKT) and fans can tune in to watch live via the World Rugby YouTube channel and on RugbyPass TV (free to watch - a signup to Rugby Pass is required).

As one of the teams qualified for the Men’s Rugby World Cup in Australia, it has been announced by World Rugby that Hong Kong China Men’s XVs will also compete in World Rugby’s Nations Cup in 2026.

This is part of a new World Rugby schedule to bring the world’s best 24 teams together for top-level international Test Matches, with a Nations Championship running in parallel. Both competitions will be played across the July and November international windows. The 2026 editions of the competitions will play a key role in individual teams' preparations ahead of the Men’s Rugby World Cup 2027.

Following Hong Kong China Rugby’s historic qualification for a first ever men’s Rugby World Cup in July, the men’s XVs squad will kick off their preparations for the world championships in Australia in 2027 with a training camp and two matches in Japan in October.

The matches are the first for Hong Kong China since qualifying for Rugby World Cup 2027 and signal a significant increase in international competition for the team in the build-up to Australia.

Hong Kong China Rugby (HKCR) is pleased to announce the promotion of Logan Asplin to the role of Head Coach for the Hong Kong China Men’s XVs. Asplin will lead the team at the Men’s Rugby World Cup 2027 in Australia, after qualification was secured thanks to victory in this summer’s Asia Rugby Men’s Championship.

Fellow New Zealander Andrew Douglas had held the Head Coach position since his appointment as HKCR’s Head of Technical Rugby in 2023. He will now expand his role and oversee a new full-time men’s programme to prepare for the World Cup campaign.

As our Hong Kong China Men’s XVs continue preparations for their Rugby World Cup debut in 2027, World Rugby has confirmed that fans can now start to plan their experience in Australia by registering at rugbyworldcup.com/2027 for presale access. Tickets will be released in phases, with the first opportunity to secure them in February 2026 (via the Presale registration), with further tickets sold via an Application Phase in May 2026.

Hong Kong China Men’s 15s overcame Korea 70-22 in Incheon this afternoon, and in doing so lifted the Asia Rugby Emirates Men’s Championship Trophy for a sixth consecutive time.

More importantly for this year, the Asia Rugby title has rewarded Hong Kong China with automatic qualification to the Men’s Rugby World Cup 2027 in Australia, as World Rugby’s flagship tournament expands to 24 teams for the 2027 edition and beyond.
